I am with CSD because their charges for the Vanguard LS were the cheapest.

Their website is no doubt whizzy, but I can never remember how to navigate to the right place to make manual purchases. It may just be me, but it's right confusing!

I am considering CSD - mainly because they have a wide range of funds available. I may transfer some cash I have in HL and have a play before making up my mind. They seemed helpful when I rang up with a couple of queries.

Does anyone know of any platform offering free fund trading and a capped fee?

TD Direct. But they are at 0.35%.

Fidelity I think as well? Can't remember.

Log in, search for the fund or shares you want to buy, then click on the buy icon in the top right side of the information page for that fund or share. The layout of the page for shares is slightly different in appearance to funds but the buy button is more or less in the same place.

Takes you straight to the purchase screen and asks you how much you want to spend.

Thanks for that, although I cant find any mention on a cap for the platform charge? If there is no cap then CSD looks much better at 0.25%. I don't remember a cap when I looked at Fidelity but I will check it out again.:)

Sorry they are the ones that don't charge trading fees.

I don't think any of them have a cap though. So its really price vs. quality.

Fidelity have a cap on the platform charge of £2000 but not stated as such, just that the amount over £1m is 0%
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Does anyone know - is that cap per account or per person - i.e. would you only benefit if you had more than a million in an isa, Fund & Share account or SIPP like HL's charges, or can you combine the amount in all your wrappers - Not that at that level its much help to me anyway.:)

    It's per person.
