Hi
My Integral 4GB flash drive has stopped working (doesn't light up), any suggestions?
I did a google myself, and it mentioned replacing the battery. Did not know there was a battery on a flash drive.
Any sugggestions as I would love to retrieve the data stored within.

I've never encountered a flash drive that takes a battery, although I believe they do exist. Wiki makes mention of a battery in a flash drive designed to double as a music player but it's a bit obscure.
I should have a close look at the usb plug on it. Make sure you haven't got dirt or fluff covering up any of the gold 4 contacts. Also make sure that all 4 contacts are still in situe and are not buckled or otherwise damaged.
Other than that I don't know what to suggest and if it won't power up at all I can't see how data recovery is going to be possible.
Out of curiosity, what make and model is it?... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -
Have you tried a different USB socket on your computer?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?

Or even try a different computer. I had a problem at the beginning of the month where I plugged two USB drives into my PC & neither worked, I tried them in another PC and could access my data. It would seem that my USB reading software has stopped working (or thats what the IT guy said) and windows needs installing again.
(strangely though the memory stick is now playing up too, luckily I backed up the info when I first logged it into the second PC)2014 - This is Our Year :j0 -
independent issues, led light can stop working drive can continue working or vice versa , or both . just wanting to rule out you can't hit windows E and see the drive there? if not lack of light implies lack of 5 volts, use different port - plug in something else there first, confirm that works, then you know its your stick if so0
