I registered yesterday but still no confirmation email.....ho hum0

You won't get a confirmation email - the error is caused by a misconfiguration, their web page is trying to send an email to you and their smtp server has responded with "550 relay not permitted without authentication". No email has actually been sent.
So as nobody can confirm signing up, nobody will get a free pen... not until they fix the misconfiguration... and then you will probably need to sign up again to get the email. Hope they fix it soon, this looks like a good freebie.
