OS Daily Thread Friday 24th January

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Need to get going or I will just go back to bed!

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day :)

  • Good morning Friday :)

DH has today off work, we're going to M&S to spend a voucher and my Christmas money this morning :)

So we're just getting ready, I need to make pizza dough this morning (I'm making mini pizzas for DD1s lunches).

Tonight for dinner is Bratwurst, HM Tzaziki, chips, onion rings and fresh rolls!

DH leaves early tomorrow, so it's a nice family meal :)

Hope everyone has a great day x

    Good morning all
Had a better sleep last night after taking sleeping tablet. About 5 hours. Still not perfect but better :)
TTFTM - hoping today passes quickly and you have a relaxing weekend x
JG - enjoy your day today before DH goes. My OH works away too and it can be tough so thinking of you x
NPM - hope you can make some headway with LA. That's a disgraceful report and I too would be furious. I hope with many people by your side you can fight this all the way and sooner rather than later x
HH - tell your boss your gp has banned you from lifting and let him/her organise someone to do it, that's what they get paid for. If you run out of paper go back and say run out of paper?
Plans for today are not a lot but will include putting on a load of washing, getting son to Hoover stairs, got appt at doctor at lunchtime so hoping we can come up with a plan of action for me, have to nip into supermarket for kids dinner (next to gp) then home for a sleep probably. The slightest effort to do something results in me having to have a nap :(
Hope you all have a good day x

    Morning All

Had a better night's sleep but still feel totally drained of all energy. Must make an effort to do more exercise to see if I can feel better.

Not much happening here, washing on airers again, DD seems to have lifted her floordrobe and put it in the wash basket so I will wade my way through it. Can't wait for some decent weather to put stuff on the line outside.

Another one here who is glad it's Friday - seems to have been a fairly long week somehow.

    Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Now light, sky looks quite clear and it looks to be drying up a bit underfoot, and it's cold and frosty.

DH up and gone to work. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 getting ready for school.

Dinner last night was chicken cooked in gravy with onions, mushrooms, veg served with new potatoes, carrots, brussels and peas. Last of Victoria sponge for those that wanted some. Dinner tonight will be something quick and easy with chips, possibly chicken and bacon kievs/breaded/battered chicken steaks. I will be having mushroom omlette and salad or fish and salad.

Was reasonably productive yesterday, got the washing, drying and ironing mostly done, still have a few bits on the airer that hadn't dried and a load in WM that's ready to go on the airer. There may be enough to make up another load later. Did housework and also organised a new pc as ours is just so out of date - so will be without a pc for a few days next week - how will I cope? Then hoping it's all going to work ok once I have new stuff installed.

Today will be spent doing all the normal chores, shortly I will be heading to the bank, food shopping, then home to get shopping put away then need to do some cooking/baking as DH is not working tomorrow but I am just for the morning then as soon as I get in, I need a change of clothes and straight out to a caravan meeting. I said I'd work not realising this meeting was this weekend, so it was too late to find someone else to do it - we're so short staffed everyone has plenty of their own Saturday's to do without covering anyone else's, so finding cover is becoming more and more difficult. Anyway it's a bit of extra money, it's always welcome. Working again on February 8th.

Payday today so finances look somewhat better - if only in short term until the DD's start hitting the account from the 1st. In reality though we will see a difference straight away as 2 x dd's have now been either got rid of or dramatically reduced, just these will make a big difference to how much is being paid out of the account. Will be using the money that we are now not spending on those to get a few other little bits paid up - shouldn't take too long as they are small amounts - got the biggest and most expensive stuff sorted first. Then we're going to start saving some each month with a view to making lump sum overpayments on our mortgage, we are in a fixed rate deal for another 2-3 years so would like to have it reduced a bit by then as you never know what's happening job wise or with the interest rates.

Have a great Friday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All,

    Didn't sleep well either:o Didn't drop off until 2am:eek:
Went out at 8 to put the bin away, and get some milk as we have MORE rain coming today and over the weekend.

Going toa Burns Night dinner tonight, and out to a friend tomorrow, so I only have to cook Sunday.:T

Put some of my dresses and jackets on Ebay, got bids already, so that's good. Given loads to the local Hospice shop too, and they are selling well, so that makes me feel good.

Had a letter from the hospital yesterday. Blood and urine tests were normal, which is good, because levels would have been raised if the cancer had come back.:T

Have a good day all. xx
    I Believe in saving money!!!:T

  • Good Morning all, well I have done the school run and my 'big' shop (not that big ,but big for me :):)only spent around £30.00 odd but no more to buy this month at least :):) History club this afternoon and we're doing the London blitz which should be interesting.
Still a bit sniffly and sneezy but hopefully the worst of the cold is over with.
A bit of ironing to do later then two days free to do what i feel like :):) if its raining (which is forecast ) I shall be tucked up indoors with my knitting and some movies I have recorded to watch. No point going out and getting wet.
Bit nippy this morning although dry at the moment
I have a busy week next week so I am going to relax this weekend
Hope every one is warm and dry
    Cheers chums JackieO xxx

    Hi everyone,

I'm back home after a horrendous journey in driving sleet and hail yesterday. I feel very tired after all the running around with mum so I will take it easy today. I need to go out to the bank but apart from that I shall do some sewing and maybe have a potter with the old black and white photos again because I have got some more frames.

Change of plan, our bathroom radiator is leaking so DH has just rung and asked me to go and pick up a new one. He said it won't be too heavy but I don't know whether to trust him - he's a 6'2 ex-rugby player, so has a different perception of heavy to me!
