Can a partners parent countersign passport photos?

As title, I know it says not related by marriage, So could my OH's mother sign mine and my daughter's passport photo's?

Does it matter if it is a deputy manager?

They can't be closely related to you by birth or marriage, be in a relationship with you or live at the same address. I'd personally say your OH's mother is closely related to you, but if you're not married to your OH then it's down to interpretation.


Deputy manager of what, as not all managers can sign passport photos? Are they in a recognised profession or would they be classed as a person of good standing in the community? Do you know anyone else who is a member of a professional association for their work as they can usually sign?

I do think it's sailing a bit close to the wind, especially if the child is your partners, so the grandchild of the woman. They do phone and check with the signatories sometimes, one question they will ask is how do they know you.
