Where do I stand with returning a no!no! hair laser?

Hello all,

I had a no!no! hair laser remover bought for me for Christmas, it cost £180 from boots.com.

I have read and followed all of the instructions carefully. It says to use the laser 2-3 times a week and 'it may take 4-6 weeeks for the best results to appear.' Well it's been four weeks and now the results aren't any good at all. Where do I stand with returning it for a refund? I would have returned it before but I waited as per the instructions.

Can anyone help before I approach Boots please, also can I take it into a branch or will I have to ring them up?

Thanks in advance

Was it purchased with a gift receipt? Do they guarantee results or say it will do something (without saying results may vary etc) and it doesnt?

I seem to remember( I may be wrong) that there is something somewhere that says after 3 months use? Even with waxing you would notice an improvement but it has to be given time. If it really worked beauty salons would be out of business with leg waxes. Vaguely recall reading they don't work -it's a gadget.

My other half bought it online, he probably didn't get a gift receipt but would be with me when it was returned if possible.

The blurp on the webpage where he bought it reads:

'The no!no! Plus is an at home salon style hair removal treatment, use at your convenience with multiple treatment levels for comfortable hair removal, no mess, no fuss.
The no!no! Plus uses science, not magic, to get great results. Using patented Thermicon™ technology, no!no! Plus delivers a gentle pulse of heat over the skin to immediately crystallize the hair for fast and easy removal. And no!no!™ Plus is universally safe and effective for everyone – men and women, no matter your skin type or hair colour, including blonde, red and grey hair!
The new no!no!’s slimmer, sleeker design gives you more flexibility, making hard to reach, round and sensitive areas easier to treat, and because some places are just more sensitive than others, the no!no! Plus has adjustable treatment levels.
The narrow Thermicon™ Tips and buffers on the no!no! Plus hair removal system means you can use it on the face (except for the upper lip/ moustache).
The Tip can also be used to treat other sensitive areas such as bikini line and underarms. Works from a mains cord.
Why use no!no! Plus hair removal system?
    - No hair
    - No chemicals
    - No mess
    - No ingrown hairs
    - No Nicks
    - No Cuts
    - No stress
    - No Fuss
..... It doesn't get better than that.'

I can't see anything in the leaflets extra, it just says:

'patience is a virtue - use nono 2-3 times a week for the first 4-6 weeks. It may take 4-6 weeks for the best results to appear.'

  • They do if you buy it direct, but surely if it doesn't do what it says it does then I should be able to return it?

Also worth noting that laser hair removal doesnt actually remove any hair - it just makes it more like the hair all over your body (so fine, you dont notice it as much).

Also, are you blonde OP? Or are you taking anything that may affect your hormone levels (or are you pregnant)? Not trying to get personal, just hormones can alter the effectiveness as can being blonde or even grey.

  • If it says give it 4-6 weeks to see results and you've only given it 4 weeks then I am not sure you've given it long enough to work out whether it works or not?!
    Thinking critically since 1996....
  • So do you think I should wait another two weeks before contacting Boots? I was just worried that time is going on and the longer I leave it the more difficult it would be to return it.

    Its very subjective anyway.

One person will be more hairy than another... One person will react better to the 'treatment' than another.

But you cant really moan if it says 4-6 and its only 4. Plus whats 'best results' No hair? Slower hair growth? Finer hair? Lighter hair? :/
