spent £200 in high street vouchers in argos on two 10" tablets for christmas, one was returned on boxing day due to unresponsive screen and replaced. within 22 days one tablet doesnt charge at all and one won't hold charge. contacted customer service who confirmed i was entitled to full refund. returned them to the store and told only entitled to refund in argos vouchers.. their policy is refund in the same way goods were paid for. i did not pay in argos vouchers so technically not the same payment method. there are no 10" tablets for the same price cheapest one is £149.99. have been told (unofficially) that argos cannot force me to accept their vouchers. can someone please help?

Who is the 'unofficial' person who has told you? Someone from Argos, or Park Group?
The love2shop website says:Q. How will I receive a refund if I return a product purchased using my flexecash Love2shop Gift Card?
A. Refunds via retailers will be made onto your flexecash Love2shop Gift Card and if this facility is unavailable you may be presented with the Retailers own vouchers or store card.
I believe that applies to the electronic cards, but there is nothing specifically on the paper vouchers.
Have you contacted Argos customer service again to see what they say?0 -
Argos don't sell love2shop vouchers so have no way of refunding you that way if they were the paper vouchers0

i know they cant supply high street vouchers, but i really want to know if they can insist i accept their own vouchers legally. they will have received the cash equivalent form the high street vouchers company, i just think its really uhfair that i am now tied to spending the £200 in their stores when there are no 10" tablets available (not even the same tablets, not that i would want them to replace them with the same) at the same price, cheapest being £149.99. i have returned goods to other companies and had cash which makes me think its discretionary

"if Argos cannot give you the High Street vouchers you had originally, they cannot force their own vouchers on you."
this is what i got back from watch consumer forum0 -
i would accept a refund in high street vouchers if they were available as that is like for like and i could use them elsewhere. my grandchildren really wanted 10" tablets and i saved all year to be able to get them. just gutted that i cant replace them with other 10" ones.

But you cannot insist on cash because you didn't pay by cash0

Can you not drop just 1" and go for these 9" tablets? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8140838.htm
Realistically any tablet at that price with that size screen is going to be terrible, you just won't get the same quality as with a tablet for £200+, they make them cheaper by making a poorer quality item with a lower spec.0 -
they were half price so originally a £200+ tablet!! did try to order these but out of stock in store and for home delivery, also asked if they could order one in store and was told they couldn't. even if they were originally £99.99 SADFART needs to apply!

Yes but SADFART would take into account the cost of the item and what is reasonable. It is not reasonable to expect a £99 tablet to be the same quality as a £500 tablet. You are lucky they are offering a refund at all, they could insist on repairing one or both of the tablets0

Not ideal, but tablet prices are fluctuating loads lately, mostly in a downwards direction, so you may only have to wait a short while for Argos to bring the price down to an acceptable level. Other thing would be to take the Argos vouchers and eBay them - vouchers normally go just for a couple of quid less than their face value.0
