There's nowhere you'll be able to advertise it that gets the traffic that the major property websites do, and the only ones who can advertise on those sites are EAs.

Try putting up a for sale notice in the window. That's how I sold my late father's house.

You only need one buyer if they complete the sale.

While its true that an EA website will have many more visitors than a notice in your window, it could be worthwhile trying to advertise privately if you live in a popular road or a lot of traffic passes your property.

You might be lucky if someone who regularly goes through the road wants to buy in it, or if a neighbour knows someone who is looking in the area.

Putting a sign up outside your house might be very inexpensive and you have little to lose. Advertising in the media is unlikely to be economic.

Also local landlord associations might be happy to post it up for u, if it's rentable
  • Thanks for replies so far, I was thinking more along the lines of using an online company such as housesimple.co.uk, for £200 they send photographers over, measure rooms, arrange EPC's etc then advertise on rightmove, zoopla and other sites. I would show buyers property, negotiate etc and sort the rest via solicitor. Has anyone here used a company like that and is it as 'easy' as it seems?
  • I know you still using an Estate Agent but have tried a online one i used sellahouseonline the charged £399 upfront they where good. I also came across isold they look ok as well. The other option is make a DIY For Sale board and advertise in the local newspaper.

I would be very careful about accepting a recommendation from a new poster. For all you know, the poster works for the firm and is just advertising for them
