I can't say my mum's creative streak was always good news - she had her moments too. I can remember (with horror!) bri-nylon, which not only seemed to be everywhere but must have been really cheap too, because my mum made everything with it for a while, even sheets. They made every night really sweaty, and every morning a matter of peeling yourself slowly away from the bedding while running the risk of fabric burn.
:rotfl:I had bri nylon pyjamas along with the sheets and can remember all the sparks everytime I even thought of moving under those sheets! It was like an electric storm as soon as the lights were off!Jan NSD 4/15

Not read all of the thread, but I used to love Icebreaker choc bar, Everlasting stick, chocolate logs and Dentyne chewing Gum.0

Oooh, painful memories of Bri-Nylon sheets (Brentfords Nylon)? Jumping into bed one night, sliding straight across and out the other side, landing on me bum!
I REALLY miss fruit and veg that doesn't go "off" within a day because it's been kept in a freezing warehouse before being put on display.Normal people worry me.0 -

'Friday night's Amami night' (setting lotion that smelled awful
:):))
and it was Billy Cotton's Band Show 'WAKEY,WAKEY' yelled out at the begining.
Mum listening to Mrs Dale's diary
"I'm very worried about Jim' she said in a rather posh voice.I think the old music hall star Jessie Mathews played her at one point.
They had a lady That ' did'
'Mrs Maggs and her OH just called 'Maggs ' who apparently did the garden.Very upmarket sopa opera on the wireless nothing like E'Enders or Corrie
:):) It was replaced eventually by Waggoner's Walk which was a bit 'Islingtonia' in style also a bit upmarket .I don't think the BBC liked to think of ordinary folk in soap operas.
There was a programme at one point on TV called 'Compact ' which I think again was about a womens magazine and nothing like real life for most people at all
:):).
!!!!!! Barton special agent was brilliant, also Paul Temple and his wife Stella. So many memories come back to one when you sit and think, I wonder what memories my grandchildren will take into their old age
:):)
P.S. Brentford Nylons had a lot to answer for with their awful bri-nylon sheets in lurid colours, My late ma-in-law once bought me a floor length nightie with a frill down the front in the most hideous shade of purple I'd only ever take it to her house when we stayed, and leave it out lying around the bedroom:):) and never wore it at home at all, it was a complete passion killer (perhaps that was the idea

I loved Dentyne too - and Stimorol, I bought some in Belgium recently as I hadn't seen it for ages.
Also Cresta toorhpaste, the one that had a cinnamonny flavour.0 -
Just reading through this and agree wholeheartedly with Jackie O about Abbey Crunch being the best ever biscuit; I was telling a friend about these only the other day, they are sadly missed.0

Does anyone remember Mint Cracknel?
My husband refuses to believe me that it exists grr...Thinks I'm making it up.
That and Spanish Gold sweet tobacco a kind of coconut thing. Lovely it was.
Apart from childhood sweeties I can't think of any other products I miss. Not even sure if I had the chance to sample the sweets again whether I'd like them now - my taste's have changed so much over the years.0 -
So many people have mentioned mint cracknel I am sure someone could set up in business making it again. I don't actually remember it, but I am not fond of mint anyway.

I've just googled it and see if even has a facebook page to bring it back. Really pleased (relieved haha I am not mad) that it is not only me!
