Help me buy a car

Hello my fine four fendered friends.
I need some help/advice on buying a new/used car.
Our Picasso is dying and I need to replace it with a decent sized family car. I simply do not care about bells and whistles just like practical and cheap.
Original budget was 4-5k for a used but there is a 1.8 zafira, new with a 100k warranty for 12k. I'd keep the car for at least the 100k miles
This seems to good too be true. Not being a petrol head I struggle to work out pros and cons but it seems to be as good value as buying a second hand car.
I'd only buy from a garage and accept that this isn't the cheapest way but for peace of mind I'm happy to pay the extra.
Any advice or opinion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

£12k seems very cheap for a new zafira. Is it definitely brand new? Not ex-demo etc? If so, ensure you still get the warranty as I believe that's first owner only.

A 1.8 petrol will be quite pricey on fuel. If you do enough motorway miles to avoid DPF troubles, try and get a diesel, as in 100k miles you should easily offset the higher purchase price.
  • Shop around. If you look soon Autotrader, a pre-registered 1.8 Zafira with 10 miles and balance of lifetime warranty is available for £10,000, seems like a cracking price to me!
