Laptop speakers going on strike.

My laptop is running Windows 7.

For the last few days, my speakers (built-in; not external ones) seem to cut out every time I try to play any song. It doesn't matter what programme I use - Windows Media Player, Quicktime Player, VLC player - they all act exactly the same. At some point between 7 seconds and 2 minutes in, the sound stops, but the programme carries on as if nothing has happened, counting up the seconds. If I have the Volume Mixer open, it just carries on as well - the green bar going up and down, but no sound.

If I close the programme and start again - whether with the same song or another one - the sound comes back then stops randomly, at a different point. If I just leave it open, the sound has never come back on its own.

The sound also cuts out if watching a video on Youtube.

I have run the Audio Troubleshooter - it didn't find anything. Of course, I have rebooted the laptop. There are no problems showing in Device Manager.

Does anyone know what's going on?
PPI on Natwest loan, Barclayloan, MBNA credit card, and Mortgagecare all repaid just for asking in 2012/2013!

Barclaycard - PPI refund refused 26/01/13, ombudsman upheld 12 May 2014, Barclays resisted until March 2015 - FOS say Barclays are calculating an offer, they have 8 weeks.

Have you tried plugging earphones/headphones in to see if they have the same problem?

Are the music files ones you have saved on the computer?
Do you have any other processes/programs running at the same time?
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?
