Just a quickie I defaulted on a HSBC overdraft of 53 pounds back in November due to moving house and forgetting about the account!
HSBC defaulted me and refused to let me pay the outstanding (I have since written to complaints department saying I want to pay) in november
However I have looked on my experian today and obviously there is the defaultcode (8) from nNovember and another one been added after that from December. .... is this normal? As in will the number8 be added eevery month until either I clear the debt or it reaches the 6 year mark? Or are they being cheeky and reporting it every month? I assumed they would stop reporting codes from the date of default but not really sure how it works.
Anyone with info please help as I just want to get it sorted!
Thanks in advance

An 8 or D each months for a default is not a new default, just an update on the original one. The monthly status of a defaulted account remains at the default 8 or D until it is paid off. That is perfectly normal and how it should look.
Most reports don't really explain that properly anywhere, so it's a common thing for people to assume they are new defaults when they are not.
The default and account will still be removed 6 years from the original default date.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
