Could anyone help me?
I've recently purchased a nice 3 bedroom house, which has a small added extension on the back containing a very small bathroom. To get to this extenstion you need to go through the kitchen, and a small lobby area.
My plans are to extend this bathroom into the lobby area, this would make a reasonable size bathroom. Although i have been told that you require 2 doors between your WC and your kitchen. Other people have told me otherwise.
Could anyone give any advice as per any personal experience.

Current building regulations don't require you to have two doors between the loo and kitchen - I checked this out when buying our house which has the bathroom right off the kitchen.
Look on page 8 of this PDF, section 1.2 which says "A space containing a closet or a urinal should be separated by A DOOR from a space used for the preparation of food" (emphasis mine).0 -

This used to be the rule, but it has been changed, see above. Not everyone is up to date.Trying to keep it simple...0 -
I used to live in a house and the toilet was in the kitchen - kind of like in what could have been a pantry, it was very odd....I think what you are planning sounds better, and ok!!! :j0

Our bathroom is off the kitchen - i'ts a very old cottage and it's been that way ever since it aquired a bathroom and a kitchen... and it's fine! It's currently on the market, and it hasn't been a problem so far...

Personally I think its quite good having a toilet of the kitchen - its pratical in lots of cases as the kitchen is often the route to the back garden, meaning you dont have to tread mud all through the house to go "spend a penny".0

Thanks everyone for your advice especially that PDF file that has really put my mind at rest. I'm 99% certain i'll go ahead with it now.
We are actually moving the rear enterence door along with it. At the moment the kitchen leads into the lobby, which holds the rear door to the garden and access to the "tiny" bathroom. The plan is to take the bathroom into the lobby, block up the rear door. Then there is a large/wide window at the back of the living room (L shaped terrace house by the way). We are planning to cut that out and have a french door put in, as access to the garden.
Thanks again everyone!!!You Can, If You Think You Can!0
