Ok I need to vent!

Yeah yeah payday loans suck and no one wants them, but sometimes you have to. So no judgement and proselytizing, please.

So I took out a small one but .... I did not realise that I would be bombarded by email, text and phone calls for a week BEFORE the due date. !!!!!!? I am going to pay it back! Yet am being harassed worse than if I'd defaulted!

Never again with them. Must be a "better" one around, if there can be such a thing.

Possibly. But given their customer base, they'll no doubt have found it keeps defaults at a lower level.

No judging from me ... been there too many times! I found that PayDay UK were one of the better ones ... only the one call before it was due! (And, at that time, they had an offer on quidco for cashback, too).

I know it's annoying, but I can sort of understand why they do it. It might be worth (politely) pointing out that they already contacted you and nothing changed since the day before (or whatever!). I did find that the second time I borrowed from them, they werent quite so harrassy with the phone calls.

Just be polite with them (they're just a person on the end of the phone probably doing a job they hate), and if you cant talk to them, then just tell them.

    Good luck!

Cos how can you be gloomy, when the sun shines out your bum? :D

I would've thought they want defaults as they can then levy extra charges. But I suppose that rapidly descends into getting blood out of a stone.

Indeed. At that end of the market, missed payments move to being complete write offs at an alarming speed.
  • By texting/calling they are keeping your other half in the loop if they get to know about it - then you may stop using these sorts of companies.

Most American states banned these companies because of the untold misery and now the big US Money firms have targeted the UK.

The guy on the Channel 4 documentary last week visited the main players (Wonga, Quickquid etc) London registered offices only to find small offices above shops acting as a mail forwarding service to the......USA.

Its like drug use..... money is made easy and available to those who thought it hard to get and the inability to pay back makes them go back for more and more. Gotcha - they are trapped and the companies make millions.

I'd be careful about getting too snotty about it, you might end up with MrsB2100 and me at this end of the market one day

What was that program? I saw it advertised and meant to watch it but completely forgot it so want to see if it's on 4OD to catch up.

Was called something like 'Loan Ranger' wasn't it?

You seem to think I'm a payday lender?

Anyway, I'm sure you won't end being a PDL write off.
