Credit search to open a Nationwide Savings account?

I'd like to open a Nationwide savings account (specially a Save to Buy savings account). However I was declared bankrupt in 2010 and was discharged a year later and although it seems odd, some banks actually decline ex-bankrupt's from even savings accounts even tho its savings not lending. Anyway, I'm thinking of applying but before I do, I'd like to know if the do a proper credit search or just a soft search?

Also curious to know if any one previously declared bankrupt has gotten a savings account with them before the BR has fallen off the credit file?

Believe it's just an Anti-money laundering check? Someone will be along soon to confirm

They will just do an identity and anti money laundering check which will not harm your credit report.

I went BR in 2008 & had a Nationwide savings a/c before that & also with the Yorkshire BS. They where declared to the O/R but never botherd with them (wasn't much in them). I just waited until i was discharged & started using them again with no problem. Since my discharge i have opened other savings a/cs with other providers no problem they only check CRAs for id & my BR was still on their.

Although Nationwide don't give the best rates.
