Hello, me and my partner are helping out a friend to try and budget abit before they have there baby due in March. Both of them are unemployed and claiming Income based JSA/income support.
I printed them off a form for Maternity grant, and i understand they will get child benfit but i'm not sure if i can say anything for child tax credit?
I'm just starting to look into this but if anyone could offer any information on CTC for an unemployed couple due 1 child. I know there will be caps on the amount but anyone in the same situation able to shed some light on how much they get?
Sorry if this sounds rude i just want to offer them as much help as i can
Thank you for looking

Sound advice on the realities of life should have been given to your so called friends who are unemployed and on JSA. Looks like trying to increase benefits by the sure shot method. Just the thought of a honest tax payer.“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu

Could be the child that grows up and becomes a Dr/Nurse and saves your life in the future, as you do know all the circumstances of the couple you were very quick to judge.."Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

Wow, sorry to have offended you so greatly..... I shouldn't have to defend them from you and don't be so quick to judge. For the sake of you replying nastily again i showed them your comment and they said i can tell you.
My friend had a stroke aged 24 - 2 years ago and lost all use in 1 arm and most use in 1 leg his Wife has been his full time carer until just after christmas to prevent him moving into a residential care facility. His rehabilitation has helped him improve to the point where he's now able to return to an wheelchair/office based job and his wife can return to work also a few months after baby. They are both hoping deary that they get back into work.
I'd like to politely ask you to shut your mouth. I'm a hard working tax payer and i am not at all thinking they are scrounging.
Thank you once again to bubbles and to Teahfc i appreciate that not everyone jumped down my throat for helping friends0 -
If your friend had a stroke 2 years ago and is in a wheelchair, he might be able to claim DLA/PIP if he isn't already. He can get DLA/PIP even if he is working - might help them out a bit
Good luck to them and congratulations on the baby xAug Comp Wins - :j
