NHBC Warranty automatic extension after repair?

Options
I've had some work done through an NHBC warranty repair on the verges on my roof (the cement at the edge of the tiles). I'm currently in the last year of the 10 year warranty.

However the claims assessor would only sign off on half of the roof verges (some were cracked and crumbling) so not all the verges are being renewed. It seems inevitable to me that the others will go shortly, typically probably just after the 10 years is up.

I was grumbling about this to the roofer who's doing the repair, and he said to me that if they've repaired some of the verges, then the warranty is automatically extended for all the verges on the roof, for a further 6 years.

He went on to say that NHBC don't publicise this, but I can find no reference to it on their site, nor in the their warranty policy document.

Can anyone corroborate this? And if so, point me at documentary evidence please?

The contractor will have to guarantee their work to NHBC, but this is aconfidential, or commercial, agreement between NHBC and the contractor.

The six years may be because of the six year rule for commencing litigation. This is not an item I am aware of, nor have I heard of the six year extension.

I've got an ongoing claim at the moment through the NHBC for a leaky roof. I have been informed that in a successful claim if they pay you to get the work done yourself with your own contractors then you're on your own but if they provide the contractors through their own organization or if they instruct the original builders to make good he repairs then this work is guaranteed for a further six years.
I have two years left on my NHBC guarantee so it's a no brainer for me.

But surely its only the work that was done that is guaranteed, it can't extend the NHBC guarantee on the whole property?

    Yes only on the repair.
