Hi,
I'm new to the board. I left my job last year with a settlement agreement (very messy grievance). I had a very good salary and have never in my 40+ years claimed any benefits other than child benefit. The settlement was paid in 2 parts, Pay in lieu of notice and a one off payment. I had to pay tax on part of it
I have now been offered a new job, i'm waiting for it to be formally offered. It is an awful lot less salary, its only 11000 per year. After paying childcare and petrol there won't be much left.
My OH earns approx 32000. I think i may be entitled to Child Tax Credit. I'm really confused, i've had a look at on line benefit calculators that want me to put in last years figures. If i put in last years figures i'm not entitled to anything. I'm not benefit Savvy, what do i need to do? do i have to wait a year before i can claim any help.
Can somebody help me to understand?
Tx
