Is it now time for the small claims court

  • I appreciate your problem.
A few years ago I bought a washing machine from my local Argos and after about six weeks it started to give trouble. When I went back to Argos their first reply was something like 'it's over a month you'll have to contact the manufacturer.' I wasn't having any of that.
About ten days later they offered to have the machine fixed. Again I had bought a new washing machine and paid good money for it and wasn't going to settle for anything less than a new machine.
After about four weeks they agreed to replace my machine

The reason I'm giving you the story is to say persistence pays and while I have no idea of it myself does any of the board members know what Argos policy is regarding the small claims court.
Do they contest cases as a matter of course, or if it is only a small amount do they bother contesting?
Maybe it is worth while playing hardball with them.
By the way how much did the radio cost?

They agreed to a replacement just to make you go away. They could have stood their ground and (legally) insisted on the repair. Even a replacement wouldn't have had to be brand new. (But it couldn't be older than the one being replaced).

...But the bit I can't get my head around is why if a product designed to pick up radio stations doesn't really pick that many up....

Do you have access to another AM/FM radio? And does that pick up more than 5 stations ?
