Just thinking out loud but would it be possible to beat the min wage by working from home?
Do work from home roles allow for this?
I'm caught in this trap at the moment and was thinking i'd be better off as I wouldn't have the travel expenses

In which sense 'beat'? Pay less than, or earn more than?0

Don't really understand this..
Of course it can be beaten. Thousands of people work from home and I bet quite a few earn a lot higher than the UK average income.0 -
And some will earn minimum wage or just above.
Certain costs are avoided by working from home but others are higher.
I work from home in a PAYE job. I save on travel costs, food costs (I can batch cook and also no lunches from the sandwich bar etc -although arguably that could be avoided in an office based job by bringing a pack up), I don't need office type clothes etc. I can claim a small tax allowance for working from home (£5-6 a week) however I also need to heat my home during the working day and light it. Some people find it saves on childcare costs as although most jobs you still need care to focus on your work - you are saving on childcare for your commuting time. (I started to do it to avoid the stressed dash home every day to beat my son's bus home from school)
Would you be left with more in your pocket working from home ? It's hard to say - it would depend how far you'd travel to work, whether you'd be more organized with food, how warm you need the house to be , and how much of a self starter you are -some people can work from home very productively -others find there are too many distractions and they produce a lot less work ........ Oh and friends and family need to be trained to understand that just because you are at home doesn#t mean it's open house for all and sundry to pop in or to ask you to do tasks that you wouldn't ask someone working in an office as they are "at work".
There's no one answer- it will depend on the type of work available, your own personality and working style. I do know people who thought they would love working from home who quickly decided it wasn't for them as they missed the support and banter of an office and felt very isolated at home or found it really hard to seperate work from the rest of their lives with not physical travelling from work to home.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Plenty of work at home roles that pay much more than NMW, best I know of is a day rate of 2k per day.0

I earn a package of around £70k working from home (although I am an employee).
Nothing as salacious I'm afraid, that was for a SAP consultant.
The only person I know who is in the oldest profession earns much more money and she only see's one arab client up to three times a year.0
