Empty Cartridges but no money repaid

I tried to save a bit of money by sending off my empty ink cartridges to a recycling company. 40 in total.
Prior to sending I called the company to ask how much I would get for the cartridges. I was quoted approx £40.
They arranged collection so I excitedly awaited by money.
A few weeks later I called as I received no payment. They told me I would getting no payment as the cartridges were worth nothing. They even had the cheek to say I have never called them until the day I called to complain.
Is there anything I can do?

Actually they have shot themselves in the foot. They have stated I have never called but they have said they have my cartridges! Some companies are so dull. Any suggestions???0

Ask for the cartridges back & tell them you have found somewhere else that will be more than happy to pay for them? The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
For what make of printer are the for? Are they originals, remanufactured or copies?0

If they quoted you over the phone based on original carts and you sent them compatibles, then of course they won't pay you.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi All,
I posted original empty hp cartridges to them. I have asked for the cartridges back but they want about £10+ for postage before returning. They have also said some of the cartrdridges are now damaged, by the time I get them back they will probably all be damaged.0 -
What a con! Name & shame them & tell them you've warned other people about your experience on Moneysavingexpert & you'll be warning people of your experience via facebook if you go on there.
Companies like this get on my nerves, taking advantage of people. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

EmptyCartridge Recycling Ltd
This is the companies name.
These sort of companies give good companies a bad name

I have tried to save a bit of money by saving up my cartridges and sending them off in one go. I am so fed up of being ripped off by people!0

Hi Loulala1,
My name is Rebecca and I work for EmptyCartridge Recycling Ltd (you may recall we have had conversations regarding this situation).
I feel I need to address your issues publicly as you state you called us to gain a price - now as I explained to you (and provided a PDF to prove), we record all our calls and the only time you had called us (or we had called you) was to first notify us off this issue regarding us quoting 'A £1 for every ink' on November 27th 2013. The only prior contact we had with you before this is the automatic collection form you had filled in online to advise us you would like a collection, and where to come. It was around this time you also registered with us.
Because we have no record of you asking us the price, we can only stand by our terms and conditions and I have repeatedly asked you to send us a call recording or some kind of proof that you called us before November 27th 2013 but you have not done so. Because I can prove that before that date (which the date you called to complain) we have not had any calls or emails from yourself, then I turned to you to be co-operative.
You stated to my colleague Grace that on our bag it stated we were affiliated with Tesco and we would give a £1 for every inkjet cartridge we received.
I explained to you that we do not, and never had, have an affiliation with Tesco and we have never offered the scheme that is £1 per cartridge.
It is clear to me what happened is that you found a website (The Recycling Factory I believe) who do have a Tesco affiliation and do offer the £1 per cartridge deal and then registered with us instead. We came to collect your cartridges because you put a collection request through (which is an online process and is done by the supplier - which would be yourself - not us) this is how we knew where to come to get your cartridges.
You confirmed that you had us confused with someone else because you emailed me to ask "is this your number? 01908 603701" This is not our number and never has been.
With regards to the carriage, due to the volume coming in, it is not possible to be returned. However due to what we feel was a genuine error on your part, we had agreed to do so at cost of carriage for sending a courier to collect originally (you will find the same policy with TRF, moneyforyourmobile, money4mymobile), Sellyourmobile).
Unfortunately as it is your error in registering with the wrong company (us) instead of the company who would offer you £1 (TRF) there is nothing more we can do to help alleviate this situation.
I am not using this opportunity to get into an argument with you publicly, I am simply stating our side of the problem because I feel it is unfair to say we are a con/scam when it was all down to a misunderstanding to do with the wrong company.
Thank you.The truth is out there... and I want to believe0
