Aww, I really should stop reading this thread!
I really really want my chooks but I still haven't found a house / run that is affordable. I really love looking at all ur pics tho and I can't wait to get my girls
Can you not build one? I must admit I ended up buying a house online £150 or so, then me and pops had to build a run for garden 'cos I felt so bad when I was going out to work and they were trying to barge past me when I was putting food and water back in on a mornin. Run cost around £60 to build what with wood/chicken wire and waterproof material&shower curtain for shelter from rain! They have been quite expensive to be honest, what with cost of banty £15, then red mite powder/louse powder/poultry spice/cozy coop/ bark chippings...RIP Floyd - 19/04/09. Yeah, the set up costs are pretty high if you can't build your own coop and run. Mine also cost £150 and now I'm looking at buying a much larger coop which is £275, but will house up to 15 birds.
I'm also planning on getting Diatom and Poultryshield. I came across this site that sells them, don't know if they work out cheaper than where you've seen it.0 -

£52.88 wi delivery, I have to have it, and it least it should last a long time so will have to just bite the bullet. Hehe, you wanting a bigger coop, I'm trying to get ahead and plan for the winter, I want to construct a plastic corrugated roof above the whole coop/ feed-bedding bins area, so when the god awful weather comes a) I wont get soaked doin the chicken jobs and b) the lasses have got a bit more shelter. They are an investment in my opinion. OH has his season ticket, I have my lasses, pets with prizes , the eggs are so nice, although I do still have to buy 'em!:DRIP Floyd - 19/04/09. I have one of those inexpensive gazebo type things over my hens and most of the run which keeps out the rain and I can sit next to the run in the shade and tease them unmercifully by eating chicken buttys. The only thing is I have found the soil in the run goes sour after a while so we are having to move the coop and run again tomorrow - think its cos the rain doesnt clean the soil??? Also Bob has dug tunnel A -' Tom' and started on !!!!!! and Harry ( as in the great escape!) supposedly they are dust baths but as you can no longer see her head above the edge of the bath so I think its time for a move!Clearing the junk to travel light

hello all, just had three chicks hatch out yesterday! We think... that they are a Rhode Island/Cochin cross but its a bit early to tell what they are really going to be like. Right now they have black/grey top feathers and wings with yellow/gold tips to their wings and a golden belly...
Sorry the pic is not too good but would be interested to hear from anyone who has had similar chicks and what they have turned out like and pics if you have any please?
Thank youBSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
Hello, anyone have any suggestions or recommendations about how to rehome three cockerels in the northamptonshire area? We have two gorgeous Cochin cockerels and one equally gorgeous Silkie Cockerel which we now have to rehome
Can't keep them all as they are having arguments as well as disturbing the neighbours a little lol!
What colour are your cochins? I might be able to take one to keep. (I stay to keep to make it clear I'd keep him alive...unlike my own poor boy chicks who are destined for the freezer)0 -
