  • I think you're wise to enquire here now, and probably your best bet would be to contact the DWP, and Motability, and ask them for advice now. It must be a huge worry for you, and I hope this gets sorted asap.

    Good Luck!

    Hi,

I wondered if anyone could give me some advice please. My dla runs out in july 2015 and the motability car is at the end of its lease in august 2015 i think.

I'm abit worried as to will happen. I know i would get the new forms for pip about 3 months early, but i also need to apply for another car and adaptions, unless they can be carried over. I use hand controls so not sure if they would.

Any advice much appreciated. thankyou x

Unfortunately over the next year or two, the national roll out for PIP will start. So for anyone that is considering a new lease this year or has one finishing within the next 12/18 months, they are certainly going to find themselves with a major problem. The government are wanting a minimum 20% reduction in the amount that is currently being paid out to DLA awardees. Given the way PIP has been set up and given the tightening of the purse strings, there are going to be a lot of current HRM awardees with a motability car who will cease to be entitled to one after PIP starts in earnest.
I would consider your options very seriously and don't be lulled into thinking that HRM with DLA will automatically mean enhanced mobility with PIP, it won't!!
