They have it all over the T&C.

The price you are given when you order is a guide. You are charged the price on the day of delivery.

You can refuse. Or you can sign the thing that tells you all about the changes, and then get upset when you realise you should have read it and said 'no, actually don't want these'

You say no communication... that piece of paper you signed with all the information on. Thats called communication.

How much do they draw attention to the price changes? Or is it just in a list with everything else?

They tell you on the payment screen and on the confirmation email they send. It is quite clear and not buried (although admittedly is not in flashing neon lights or anything!!).

Tescos if they substitute will charge you the same price as the item you originally chose so you never end up paying massively more.

I think it's kind of a con when supermarkets substitute for something that's twice as expensive.

My apologies, as I haven't used Click and Collect. My understanding is that you enter payment details online, then collect your stuff later.

So, specifically at the point when you collect your goods, what process do they follow to tell you if there are any price changes? Is there another payment screen at this point, or do you just provide ID and get your stuff?

This is the first time i have used the service, which is why i am trying to understand the process too. My experience was that at this point the staff member asks for your order number. Once provided, he hands you your shopping with the delivery note (which details your shopping, the prices you have been charged and any substitutions). It is then your responsibility to check you are happy with the prices you have been charged/check to see if they have omitted any items. They do not appear to indicate a price change or list any items they were unable to fulfil. You then sign an electronic thingy to confirm collection

From what i can tell, any efficiencies made by completing your shopping online, would be lost, whilst you stand in the car park checking the list to make sure you're satisfied with what you have received and the price you've paid.
  • I thought if Asda substituted an item they gave it to you at the price of the other one?

My asda certainaly do as I often use it for 'free upgrades' of things they dont have in stock!

I questioned this with Customer Service and I was told that the box of nappies I received as a substitute, was equivalent to x3 of the smaller sized packs that I actually ordered.
Therefore they charged me £11 for the substituted box of nappies (the current selling price for the box) rather than 3x £5.97(the selling price of the smaller packs that i'd ordered)
