Conservatory choices

Hello all, I am new to the boards but have found so much great info I was hoping someone could answer some questions about conservatories.

We have decided to look seriously at putting a conservatory on the house for some much needed space. Obviously at the merest hint of interest we already have 2 companies booked to give us a quote!

Anyway the more I look at sites the more I ask the question whether this is something that could be put up by ourselves. Hubby is a manual handyperson who is quite capable of building sheds/decking/greenhouses, also did a fab job of tiling the kitchen etc so I am thinking this is not a great step to make.

So baring that in mind I have noticed that Wickes sells conservatories, can anyone tell me if the quality is okay or what we should be looking at and if there are other companies that people would reccommend, we are in Shropshire if that makes a difference.

I really would caution putting up a conservatory, with all that glass, I think I would prefer a professional to install it.
