Transferring emails to new Computer

Options
Will be getting our new computer beginning of February. We use a pop3 account and Outlook for our emails. Outlook will be installed on the new computer. What is the best way to transfer emails saved within Outlook on current computer?

I will be doing a general back up of all data on old computer before the handover!

The link is not fully opening for me but I get the gist of what I need to do. Will Google again nearer the time and get it sorted! Many thanks.

When you fire up your new PC, there should be a data transfer program that allows you to bring all your data and settings from the old one.
Would you say that to a stranger's face in the street? No? Then why type it on a forum?

Windows Easy Transfer. I assume the new OS is W8, but what is the old one?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
• I'm doing the same - trying to transfer e-mails from one PC to another.

I had Outlook Express but it doesn't work on Windows 7. Managed to transfer to Outlook and then copied over to the new PC as I had an old copy of Microsoft Office with Outlook on it. I have transferred everything over but there is no option to send, receive, forward or reply etc.

I then tried Thunderbird and although I can now receive e-mails I can't send them. I have checked all the smtp and port settings as set out by my broadband provider, TalkTalk (and also checked out all the settings on the old Outlook Express) and although everything seems to match, I just can't get anything to send. (In desperation I also set up an account with Outlook.com but again I couldn't get anything to work.) Any help would be great.

On the account settings on TB smtp settings for the talktalk account use
server smtp.talktalk.net
port 25
username yourusername@talktalk.net

For outlook use
smtp-mail.outlook.com
587
username@outlook.com

And make that each of the accounts' settings for Outgoing Server point to the relevant SMTP server account

• You are a genius. I spent hours yesterday tweaking all the settings. The one that did it was the port 25. Thank you so much.
