external insulation

Hello we have a poured concrete no fines chalet bungalow built in the early 60s with dormer windows front and back.
Our council has teamed up (or maybe sold our info to) with electricity company to offer the above insulation at a reduced (?) cost. They would put batons on the roughcast and add a mesh then render again. We are not sure if we should have the survey done ot not
I have done a very quick search and it seems effective if, and its a big if,the job is done properly, A bad job could make the house damp has anyone had this done and if so how are you getting on with it
Thank you for reading

You should get the survey done, i would be looking to get the wall uvalue reduced to under 0.2 and ideally down to 0.1.0

They did several multi story blocks of flats in our area. They stuck 100mm of polystyrene on the outside and then netted and rendered it. I have not read of any problems whatsoever thus far.
Why do you think that cladding the outside with insulation would make the house damp. If it wasn't damp before, it is very unlikely that insulating it would do anything but make the place much more comfortable and cheaper to heat.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

Thanks, its good to hear of good reports, one report I read seem to suggest that the house needed to "breathe" and this type of cladding could trap any dampness through "bridging" making the internal walls damp.0 -
My lads house has been external insulated and so far seems very good
80mm insulations fixed to walls , meshed over, 2 coats fine render and top coat of through coloured rendering, This included all new fall pipes, soil pipe, alterations to outside tap, external electrics, etc
The only problem I foresee is the render is "soft". If you hit it with anything hard, or even your hand, it cracks and dents it, so not sure what it will be like in the long term
The top coat is almost impossible to patch up without showing, assuming you have the correct render, so should imagine that over the years they will have to be patched and repainted.
But the house is so much warmer than before, this is probably worth it0 -
This is quite common now, but I thought is was free for OAP's and benefit'ers.
It might be worth looking elsewhere on this site, as most insulation is still free and I a pretty sure you can now get external insulation for nothing.
You can have brick finish or stone finish by companies like stonefxwalls or decopierre who did work on all sorts of buidings0
