Credit card not cancelled

Options
3 years ago I opened an account with Lloyds TSB. I was asked if I wanted to apply for a credit card and said no. Lo and behold a credit card appeared so I phoned to cancel. Applying for a new credit card to do a 0% balance transfer today and I found out they didn't cancel after all, and it will take 6months to drop off the system. I cant't apply for a new card until this is done.

Any advice?

Do you have any proof you cancelled?

probably not much you can do now unfortunately :( - Maybe a lesson learned here? check your files at least twice a year!

Presumably the 6 months thing relates to you opening a new cc account with Lloyds Banking Group?

Do you need a new account if the one you thought you cancelled is still open? I'm sure the bank will provide you a new card on request should you have lost or destroyed the old one. :)

Can Lloyds still change credit card types anymore?

I seem to remember changing an Advance card to something else a few years ago.

Cancel your account and go elsewhere then. Loads of companies rely on people being willing to take a dry shafting - vote with your feet!

I can't at the moment as I've opened a new CC and Current account in about 2 months and I have quite a few searches!

Though I'll be ditching them in Summer when my credit file will show that I've stopped stoozing my 0% overdraft!
