Anyone can share their experience in this site?
I know it's based on the UK but are they secure just like ebay?
I'm watching a nokia n73 phone in an auction and wanted to know if i can close the deal without problems, spoke with the seller and he accepts paypal and moneybookers.
But it's my first deal in qxl if i close it and wanted to hear first from you

I'm sorry I've never used them so can offer no suggestion. However phones can be problematic so take all normal precautions when checking out the seller and if you do go ahead then use paypal backed by a credit card only.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As with almost all online auction sites, there is no protection for buyers outside of the minimum offered by regular UK trading Laws and only then if you are prepared to go to Trading Standards, the Police and/or the Small Claims court.
The payment processor - PayPal, NoChex, Moneybookers etc - does not offer protection of any sort unless you use an Escrow service. Your only comeback would be funding a transaction via your credit card and getting the credit card company to cancel any payment for a problem transaction.
As an aside, PayPal do not offer any protection outside of eBay. That is their official policy. Why Pay High Fees

Yes they do, it just isn't as inclusive as that offered on ebay. I've actually gone through the dispute process and received a full refund via paypal for an item bought on a website (not ebay) and where the silly company shut down for a month for summer holidays came back and then decided they couldn't find my payment or goods!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That's interesting and not what they told me when I emailed them regarding this matter some months ago.
I asked:
"Am I protected in the UK if I use PayPal for transactions outside of eBay, on another website?
I see several other websites and sellers on various auction sites (other than eBay) offering PayPal as a payment option, but do I still receive the same level of protection that I would were I trading on eBay itself?"
And they've replied:
"Thanks for contacting PayPal. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your questions.
The security measurements which PayPal offers her customers is at the present time only for items bought on eBay."Why Pay High Fees

I think th eproblem lies with the fact that half the paypal employees don't really understand what they are doing.
If I was paranoid (what moi?) then I might speculate that due to paypal being held by the same parent company as ebay, they don't want people to get the impression that using paypal on other auction sites is as safe as using paypal on ebay. Therefore if people think paypal is only safe on ebay then they will stick with ebay.
I've tried the paypal help system but as usual it is as useful as a chocolate teapot, but from my vague recollection using paypal 'off' ebay covered you against non receipt but not for item not as described.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
