Billed by supplier after account is closed

Hello there, has anybody received a bill from an electric supplier 4 months after thier account has been closed?

I changed supplier in September, I received the final bill and was refunded some cash that I had overpaid. Today I get a letter from my old supplier apologising that the bill was late but there was still £50 outstanding.

A) can they bill 4 months after the account was closed
B) I already have a final bill saying 0.00 on the account.

Any advise would be gratefully received.

Thank you.

"Final" in final bill is simply a descriptive label - it is not a contractual declaration of full and final settlement. Suppliers have six years to chase errors and omissions.

When switching supplier you should always check actual reads yourself and estimate the outstanding situation whether to your or their credit.
