Sorry came across this while looking for something in another thread... How about... An even older Fiesta?

fivetide I think that is an estate sale car discovered in a lock up and recommissioned very recently. The brand new exhaust, no-make wheel trims and giant floor mats won't detract from the grubby seats, rattly 1100 and the aroma of werthers and wee.

I don't think I claimed any different. Just the OP likes an old Fiesta and it is budget.

Besides, the dash is brown and the car is hearing aid beige. Who wouldn't want that?

My car has also recently failed mot on sills.

Time to get a new one - rusted out on the right side only. :(

Depends on the car and its cost of repair versus "value" and otherwise, overall condition.

I'm all for cheap motoring and getting the most value out of a car, but the minute corrosion around suspension pick up points, structural members, or seat belt mount points is mentioned, I can't shake my head and back away fast enough.

Yes, it's perfectly possible to make sound repairs to such issues. No, it's generally not worth it in bangernomics.

We are talking about safety here - yours and other road users. If the car is that full of rot, it needs to go back from whence it came, and it's replacement should be found.

I once had an MR2, for a few months, until the MOT man demonstrated that the front wheels were connected to the rears by nothing more than carpet and fond memories. Gingerest drive home ever, followed by a call aroud the local scrap yeards to see who would collect.

I don't quite like them that old, I like the MKIVs because they still use the same 1.25 engine in the new cars only they weigh a lot more and have useless drive-by-wire throttles.
