With no witnesses, it depends on the two sides stories how liability is settled.
The other side have clearly seen something in their insured's story that clashes with your report to them for them to change their mind!
Maybe he told them you waved him on??0 -
No he told his insurers he assumed I stopped to let him out and didnt look in my direction only checking the other way. He asumed didnt check, driving without due care and attention surely0

Nevertheless, something has caused this change of mind (my "wave" suggestion was just a guess).
Ask your claim handler at your insurer for their thoughts and if they think this could end up any different than a non fault claim.
If the worse happens and it ends split liability you still will be able to reclaim your "share" of your excess and any other uninsured losses.0
