In my case, I receive council tax with correct address on it i.e. 143-A so I assume council has the correct address? However 143-A does not appear in the post office address finder
Council was correct in my case. Post Office wouldn't even agree to add my address to their database because there was one shared letterbox for all flats in the property.
Worth checking how the major credit report companies have your address listed, might need to call them to find out. I would expect them to have 143-A even though not on post office DB.0 -
Does each flat have it's own front door to outside, or is there a shared front door - i.e. to a hallway with doors leading to each flat?
If it's a shared front door then I believe that Royal Mail just treat it as the same address since all the post for both flats goes through the same letter box. However, the council should have each flat registered seperately, which sounds like it is the case.0 -
I have received an email from royal mail and this is what they said
This property is registered as having a multi occupancy of two address points (143 & 143A) which share a communal mail delivery point therefore there can only be the one listing on our main database. However, the flats are listed on our multi occupancy database which is available for purchase by external companies. Unfortunately, we have no jurisdiction over whether or not these companies purchase the multi occ database.
Now the questions is
does credit referencing agencies use multi occ database for address verification?

Not a clue. Something you'll need to ask them.I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. They must do, or they use some other source. I say this because my flat address isn't on the main database (same reason) but credit agencies have it listed on their systems.0
