Offering alcohol as a prize

Options
Hey all,

Hopefully this isn't too off topic, but does anyone know about any restrictions on offering alcohol as a prize on Facebook?

I know plenty of brands do it, I entered the Gaymers competition last week. Is there different restrictions between Scotland and England? I know there's some sort of law surrounding alcohol promotions but I'm struggling to find any answers on Google.

Thanks!

The only thing I've seen is for the winner to show id that they are over 18.
Scotland did restrict multibuy offers on sale, but that's different,

I've won alcohol three times, once a mini bottle of baileys, another is 6 bottles of wine and the last was a massive bottle of vodka.. and was NEVER asked to confirm my age or show ID!

I didn't think there was any in this country. I know its illegal to offer alcohol in America though... :/

I won a bottle of liquor just before xmas, the delivery man never asked for I.D but was very chatty :) I'm sure they'd be told to ask for it if they suspected you were underage?

I don't think it is usually the courier's responsibility... More likely the people who run the competition.
  • I won a bottle of wine a few weeks ago and was asked to send a scan of my passport for proof. I decided against sending the passport scan and not receiving the wine because I'd prefer to keep that information to myself but it was a well known company so i'm sure it would have been fine.
