Company 1 didn't tell me they were sub contracting work to company 2
Company 2 didn't tell me they were sub-contracting work to company 3.....
These schemes are a big fat con!0 -
I would also like to add, when a government backed scheme is in place, you wouldn't expect to be misled or ripped off!
Even the advice services have no idea what they are talking about in my experience. It took them nearly 2 months to tell me I wasn't on the scheme that they said I could have cashback for DOH! They were the one's who gave me the advice and contacts in the first place.0 -
You have basically just been caught up in the confusion surrounding the Green Deal and ECO (Energy Companies Obligation).
ECO is a part of the Green Deal but does not require a 'Green Deal Plan' because the measure is funded in part or in full by one of the big six energy suppliers and you only qualify for the cash back once a Green Deal Plan is in place.
But you have still got a new boiler for £750 which is still a bargain!!0 -
Yes £750 is a good deal for a new boiler but I was told the maximum I would have to pay would be £350.
I was pressured into paying quickly or they would not start the work.
I still feel like I have been ripped off but I guess this will be the last time I pay upfront again.0 -
How can you have been 'ripped off' if you have saved (at least) £750 by other users subsidising your install? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I received dozens of calls and junk mail offering free boilers for people on low incomes. I am one of those people on a low income so wanted to take up the offer of a free replacement.
The company told me these charges were to pay the installer but the installer told me he was being paid a lot less. It's quite obvious this company was pocketing some of the money for themselves.
This scheme is to help people on low incomes.
I am happy with the boiler though.0
