Applying for a credit card with a foreign address history
Those who did decide to stay aboard opened bank accounts etc in that country at the time of that decision ... which was at least 3 years after arrival.
... which other country wants a 3 year address history for opening bank accounts?
Actually Canadian banks do, but they don't care about the country.
Australian and NZ banks don't require any proof of address at all.
Every time I try to fill up an application online I am required to specify at least 3 years history, if not more. There is no provision to input a non-UK address as my previous address.
that is because they will not give you a credit card without this. if you dont have it, then you will be declined for the card. some of the mainstream banks arent going to give you a credit card.
Any idea on what the correct course of action should be for newcomers?
Mauriphonic has stated Nationwide, Aqua & Creation may give you a card as they accept no uk address history. So try these.
Vanquis may too.
