Good idea and best of luck.

You mentioned that RBS/Natwest are sensitive to PDL use, are there any more lenient lenders. And in your experience, say you have PDL use 2 years ago but nothing since what impact will this have?

    Yes there are.

Many lenders won't have an issue with PDL use two or more years ago.

You would best be served by having an independent broker find the best options for you, rather than trying to find out which lender to approach directly.

Have you got your credit reports from all three providers Equifax, Experian and Callcredit?

Does your current address match 100% the Royal Mail address?

    Are you on voters roll?

Addresses can be a real problem – particularly if you live in a flat.

Some providers still don’t recognise the postcode even though the development is nearly 10 years old – others have no problems – or it ends up producing a weird address

My address format - should be (NB Not my actual address but illustrative):

    Flat No 12
    Acacia Court
    17 Smith Road
    London EX1 2AA

But ends up with one of the credit reference agencies as

    17, Acacia Court 12,
    Smith Road
    London EX1 2AA

    Another struggles completely.

The PAF (Postcode Address File) from the Royal Mail should be the master source of address reference data for pretty much any company. Suggest you check Royal Mail's address finder:
