I'm in the same boat. I had an account in 2007 which I defaulted on and I believe the closing balance was about £1400 - I've never repaid this, I was chased by Robinson Way and others and still never paid anything.


I wanted to order a suit so went on the site - prepared to pay by debit card and TO MY SHOCK was given a £100 credit limit. I thought the order may have been cancelled but no, it was delivered.

I have other defaults and 1 satisfied CCJ, 1 about to be satisfied for £5985 and 1 outsanding CCJ £700 which is also still outstanding

On a sepaate note, I've also been accepted for a black diamond vanquis visa card - I applied as I want to rebuild my credit with a view of getting a mortgage in a couple of years. Again I wasn't expecting an acceptance, but I was and when the card came, I was shocked to find a limit of £500

I've checked noodle to get the above, but maybe there isn't much more on my equifax or experian credit file

Incidentally, capital one have declined me!

I'm not sure what you expect?

If they had refused you an account you would probably be posting on here how you can't get credit. If they had asked you if you wanted a higher limit, would you have said no? Of course not!

It's a reality of life that some people are rubbish with money and some aren't.

You could argue that people who continually default should just be banned from ever having credit again; protecting them from themselves against no self control.
