New home
I just completed the purchase of my new home today! Now just a question about the electric. I have chosen the supplier that I want to use but do I have to contact the current house supplier first (the sellers electric company) or can I just contact my new supplier and they will do the switch for me?

You need to contact the current supplier because they currently own the right to supply the property and as soon as you flick a light switch you have entered into a deemed contract with them so you need to give them your details and your opening meter read. You then contact your preferred supplier and start the switching process.0

As above, you can't commence a switch until you have opened an account with the existing supplier and given your opening reads. No free lunch, and no free laptop
