Halifax not updating CRAs

Hi, as a newbie I'm hoping I can get some advice please....
I have a Halifax credit card which I was using at the start of 2013. I had a car accident and was off work for 5 months, as I wasn't being paid I used my credit card for living expenses. My limit was £6000, I went up to £5200 of the available credit. I paid every monthly instalment on time, I only paid the minimum amount until early December when I cleared the full balance (insurance payout from accident). I have no other debt other than my mortgage (again never ever been late paying, had it 12 years).
I now want to apply for a car loan but Halifax haven't updated Experian on my credit card since 01.12.13, it's now 21.01.14 and still shows a balance of £5200 - I don't want to apply for the loan till that shows as clear in order to improve my chances of being accepted. I've chased Halifax but they're totally disinterested in helping.
Any ideas what I can do to hurry Halifax up and get them to update Experian? Am I being over cautious not applying for the loan till this is cleared?
Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Might get updated 01 Feb. Did you close the account or just pay the balance?
To be sure, email them a complaint. Best way to get them to look at it in a timely fashion.
I would wait, as it looks to loan companies that you still have the large balance.:beer:0 -
@happy_bunny thank you for you reply :-)
I paid the account in full, I wanted to keep it open in case of emergencies.
I have emailed, phoned & been into branch and either get no reply (email) or told it's an automated process (phone & branch).
Whilst not necessarily expecting daily updates I would have expected them to update the CRAs at least monthly!!0 -
Yes, I would have thought monthly too
. Although, sometimes the balance on my reports is 2 months old.
Write to them, signed for, complaining. Refer to original email.
Although, by the time they bother to respond, I bet its been updated. But still at least it's another negative on their complaints stats for being useless...:beer:0 -
If you'd like us to chase this up for you please send us details. Open accounts should be updated monthly.
Thanks
