ebay have blocked me form bidding

Hello
Please can i ask for adivce, Ebay have today blocked me for 30 days for bidding on auction style listings, They have said that i have broke the rules on the bid retractions policy.
Now what i have done is place a bid on an auction style listing with a buy it now, either asked the seller a question and then retracked the bid to use a buy it now or just changed my mind and used the buy it now,
In the terms and conditions is does not state that you are not allowed to do this, it states that if you retracked a bid you must bid again i did this using the buy it now.
Am i breaking the rules ?
any advice would be very welcome
Many Thanks

It is very unusual indeed to be suspended for breaching the bid retraction rules, I've seen someone survive with litreally dozens of bid retractions marked on their feedback page before.

How many times are you doing this? It is easier you know just to add the item to your watching page and bid once you have asked a question.

    HELLO,
Thanks for your reply, i buy a lot of items from abroad and the uk and place a bid on the item whilst i ask the seller if they will ship or how much postage would be, as i could lose the item if i waited, If they are happy to post, good and if they are not willing to i will leave the bid there and not retracted unless asked too as i know this is against the rules as i would not bid again.
Yes i have done this before but i did not know it was against the rules as i was technically replacing the retracted bid with a buy it now.
Now i have an ebay shop and i buy and sell alot, well it is too me.
i too have seen people retract alot of bids and have also seen a few bid up and then withdraw the bid but i havent done this. I will now have to give up everything as i can no longer buy anything.
Do you think i have broken the rules?
    Thanks agasin for any advice

Lots of info here about bid retractions.

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/questions/retract-bid.html

Out of interest, what reason did you give when you retracted? Did you not think it was strange that none of the available options applied to you?

And yes, you have broken the rules.

As to whether this is standard procedure, I have one bid retraction showing across all of my various accounts.

I am sorry - I must be really stupid but i really don't understand what you are saying you have done. Have you bought a buy it now, pressed the commit to buy button and then withdrawn it? If that is the case, how long after you pressed the commit to buy button. How many times did you do it? If that isn't the case, please can you explain it a different way? thank you. Also, re suspension/punishment, if you think you have a case (I can't respond as I'm trying to get to grips with what you've done at the moment) - then i have found live chat to be really good. I got my suspension lifted immediately. J x

Am I missing something but can I ask why you don't find out about shipping/postage before you bid? Surely the length of time an auction runs for gives you plenty of time to find this out first ????
