    If someone has a hobby such as Red Cross Volunteer, Scout Leader etc then that can show that they may have other skills not easily relevant from the CV - leadership, time management, dedication.
    If someone is completing Marathons then they are dedicated to keep fit and achieve goals.
    If someone enjoys using the computer they will require less training on the company's IT systems.

    So hobbies can show a little extra about an individual that could work in your favour.
