How easy is it to find independent carpet fitter?

Now all the decorating is done in my new home I'm ready to buy new carpets. However, I've noticed I can save a small fortune by buying online, especially when buying roll ends with enough carpet for my needs.

I'm wondering though how easy/difficult it might be though to find a reliable carpet fitter to fit the carpets if I'm buying them plus underlay etc. online? I do realise that most shops make a good profit on supplying the underlay & other accessories required, even when they offer free fitting, for buying a carpet from them.

I've seen some excellent quality carpet I like at a great price, but don't want to risk buying it only to find that I can't find anybody to fit it for me. So I'd be interested to hear if anybody has bought online & managed to find an independent fitter.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Rated People ....you are joking I hope ???
Ask around friends family work mates...there are plenty of independent carpet fitters around in all areas.
In fact lots of carpet suppliers actually use independent fitters .....they don't actually employed any fitters of their own.
    P.S.
If you tell us whereabouts you are located you may get somebody to give you a recommendation.....

To be honest I don't set much store by sites such as rated people. Nobody I know has used an independent carpet fitter alas, all like I have in the past have bought via a high street shop & had fitting done by them.

I live on the borders of SE London/Kent if anybody does have any recommendations.

Not in any of the carpet shops I've looked in I'm afraid. Even in the local paper you don't see any carpet fitting services advertised, only for supply & fit.

Priceless Carpets on the Bromley Road (Nr Beckenham) offer the service, I think - you might be able to get a recommendation there.

I found an indy carpet fitter on the local city, Facebook page which has a section for services and small ads. Might be worth a look.
