@ Capt Calculator - why not complain to the retailer to get this parking charge cancelled - never too late to do this and you do not want to wait for up to six years to see if court papers arrive.0

Doesn't make any difference. Let us know if you get an actual Letter before Claim to robustly respond to, or small claim papers. KEEP ALL THE PAPERWORK FOR YEARS EVEN IF IT GOES QUIET NOW.
Also get a photo of that sign now in readiness for a bun fight at a hearing - and show us that sign please.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hello I wonder if anyone can give me some advice.
I received a parking charge through the post by Smartparking for £45.00 in October 2013, I appeal the charge to POPLA but in doingso was informed by Smart that in doing so my charge would now be £90.00, Iappeal to POPLA before Christmas 2013. I received a letter from a Debtcollector acting on behalf of smart on January the 20th asking for£180.00 and this must be paid by 7th Feb 2014, I contacted POPLA toask if a decision on my appeal had been decided and they inform me not at that stageand the letter from smart must be a oversight and to ignore it.
I received an email from POPLA on February 7thtelling me my appeal had been unsuccessful.
I based my appeal that on the day I parked in a disabledbay and displayed my Blue badge, I used the shops on the retail park and localshops in town centre using my disabled scooter, unfortunately on the day myknee locked and my daughter had to pick me up, she also picked my car up laterthat day, I have also wrote to Farmstores one of the shops I use that daysending them a copy of my bank statement showing that I had use the shop on theday and received the following email:-
Thank you for your further email.
Unfortunately, having been in contact with Smart Parking once more, they haveinformed me that you have also recently approached POPLA, the IndependentAppeals Service. Having done this it takes away any control of the case theyhad and restricts them from any further communication over the matter. This isnot their decision, it is a ruling enforced by POPLA.
I am sorry I am unable to help any further.
Kind regards
