Notice period

I've made a compete balls up of my situation so need some advice re notice periods. I was offered a job 2 weeks ago and have been deliberating ever since. I intimated that I would accept as I genuinely planned to at the time, however I've still not handed in my notice at work which is a week. I've put off my potential start date twice and am supposed to be starting on monday. If I hand my notice in tomorrow I'm stuck as would have to leave next wed, but I'll need to start my new job Monday or I risk losing it.
Any advice? What could my employer do if I didn't work my full notice?

At worst?, not pay you. Look at your employment contract

Actually I'm pretty sure they could sue you...the likey hood is pretty slim though unless you would actually be leaving them in the **** because they havn't got time to replace.People don't know what they want until you show them.0

Yeah I've read that. Given that its a call centre job and they won't actually lose business, I very much doubt they would go to the hassle of suing me for the sake of 3 days!0 -
its unlikely but a possibility, if you have any holiday left then offer to use that to the end but you really are silly not handing ur notice in....why didn't u?Yeah I've read that. No holiday left!
I didn't because I'm an indecisive fool and couldn't make a decision on time.0 -
Are you definitely changing jobs, if so just do it and get it over with and bear with the repercussions. No holiday left!

Your current employer could tell your new employer that you left breaching your contract but again unlikely but not an impossibility.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -

More than likely, going to decide tonight.
If I do, I'll just tell them tomorrow and take the consequences.0 -
What if I have a change of heart at the eleventh hour? I've not signed anything with the new employer and have been careful what I said in emails but have intimated to the agency that I've accepted. Could any suing go on in this scensrii!?0

If you've not signed the contract then you're not obligated to work for them. That said, this agency won't touch you with a barge pole if you've informally committed to it and the employer is expecting you to start and then you don't.
Be less indecisive
