Apple TV

I am abroad frequently and take my iPad for viewing UK TV via a VPN connection. Whilst the iPad is OK to view on, could I use an Apple TV to stream live UK TV to a hotel Room TV set via my iPad?

If this is possible I assume I would need to be able to connect the Apple TV to the hotel room TV with cables and the TV would need to have the correct connections to enable me do this? Then hope the TV recognises an external input source?

Any advice or other suggestions welcome. Thanks.

You don't need Apple TV. This cable will do

If your iPad has the new connection you can get an adaptor from Play for about £3.

The tv will need to have an HDMI socket for it to work, but it would need one for Apple TV.

Im pretty sure there is no aftermarket Lightning to HDMI cable that works at the moment only the official apple one which is about £40, any of the lightning to 30pin adaptors are only good for charging and syncing

Thanks I didn't know that, from what I read only the official cables worked with the new connections
