Uh oh! Looks like they are killing the old business and phoenixing it as a new name, so a new legal entity.

You cant shut down a company if it has debts , unless you go through the proper channels , ie liquidation
i have access to company reports ill check it outVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
Thanks for this. On the phone, I asked if they could re-imburse me now and the guy claimed he had 'literally nothing'. Also, he made mention of closing the original company down. Their website looks exactly the same, but I notice that on the email sent to me confirming the repair the company was listed in the address as 'WeFixMac LTD', whereas now on the website it's listed as 'Mageek Ltd'.
I cant find a company called wefixmac ltd , mageek is a newly incorporated company
They may not have been a ltd company at the time of the incident , or they hadnt been upfront with the company name . Sue the latest company and see what they do about thatVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -

I see your point, but I think the same could be said about any kind of accident. No matter how well they maintain their equipment it's still possible that something might cause damage to an item belonging to a customer that is in their care. As shaun_from_africa said, that is what insurance is for.
If I borrowed an item from someone and it was stolen from me I would expect to be replacing it for them.0 -
Ask for the crime number and you might be able to claim from house insurance etc. Did you pay by card?Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

This would be a good starting point - only issue might be that if the iPod is old, the OP might not have a record of when it was purchased on the card.
I'm suspicious of the repair company. "everything was stolen" and now they don't exist any more. Why do I feel like it's a case that everything which belonged to their clients has been stolen... by them?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?

A bit of digging...
Wefixmac - last tweet 13/12/13
Did you send it to their Walthamstow address or the one in Enfield?
Pelirocco - try looking up WFM Europe Ltd
Also on the wefixmac.com website, a lot of their links are dead/fake, particularly the important ones:

Thanks for all the advice/info. I went to the Walthamstow address - I actually live locally so dropped it off myself. I might go in again to see if I can ascertain any more info about the 'burglery'.
I doubt I'm going to get anywhere without suing them, and to be honest, given it was a fairly old ipod, I'm starting to think it's just not worth the expense and hassle. Perhaps I'll see whether any 'insurance' money is actually forthcoming before launching a claim.0 -
I paid for goods which have never been given to me. They also claim that they have no funds but have employed new staff etc. Sounds very fishy to me and the manager Stephane morin is very rude and sarcastic. I was wondering what my rights are?? They claim to have a liquidator but I have had no update or anything regarding this.0

Is an old Ipod worth much?0
