Is No Claim Bonus automatic?
Hi everyone,
This question may sound weird to some. I bought my first car last year and am about to renew my insurance premium.
Since I made no claim during my first year, I guess I must specify 1 year no claim when looking for prices for the next year. Is that correct? Or do I need to do something to "officialize" or validate my 1 year NCB?

You accrue NCD automatically. Your new insurer may ask you to prove your NCD to them in which case you'd post your renewal quote to them or ask for a proof of NCD from your former insurer if you've misplaced your renewal quote0

You'll get a certificate of your no claims at the end of your policy with the current insurer (usually as part of the renewal pack), and it's automatic so you don't need to validate it. Just keep the proof of no claims in case the new insurer asks for it.0

It's not usually a certificate as such (or at least I've never had one) but rather a simple statement on the renewal quote saying how many years NCD are applicable. But as above, yes it is automatic.0 -
Is it a standard policy (ie not a classic car type policy)?
If you have the renewal you should already have your NCD proof, (though there is no NCD with a classic car policy)0 -
As above, completely automatic. Basically, when taking out a new policy, you state how many years no claims you have, and they ask you to prove it, usually by emailing or posting your previous renewal letter. If by any chance your renewal letter does not state the number of years NCD, you can ask them to provide a letter stating the information. I have never known an insurer to refuse this.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0

Indeed, they said they will automatically send a document that proves there was no claim during the previous year, on the day of renewal.
Thanks all for the input.0
