cpp charges on credit card taken out in 2005

Options
I took out a card with tsb back in 2005. I tried to reclaim the charges back through ppi with tsb and I was told it was wasnt ppi and therefore I cant claim. The charges per month on my credit card were £50 and I was told this was cpp which I am now told I can reclaim but I havent received a letter but the misses has. Does that mean I am not entitled to anything? I have all the statements showing the charges on the account. So, I couldnt claim for ppi but I should be allowed to claim back the cpp but how do I start since I havent recieved a letter

Are you sure it's CPP ? A regular £50 per month payment doesn't sound like CPP.

Letters about CPP have been sent out but CPP was usually an annual payment to cover lost or stolen cards or documents ? From memory, it was about £35 per year.

What does it say against the £50 transactions on your statements ?
  • Alongside the fee it states cardholder protection plan

That sounds like an annual CPP fee amount rather than a monthly one..
  • Thanks for your reply but this was charged monthly using a percentage of the overall balance, as the balance grew so did this "cardholder protection plan" amount. I have no idea what it was for and being a young naive bloke i just signed whatever they put in front of me.

It's another name for PPI. The CPP was entirely different.
If you feel it was mis-sold to you then complain.

  • In 2013 I had the claim rejected by tsb stating it wasnt ppi. I have today spoken to cpp and they have said "because the amount taken wasnt a fixed amount each month and was dependent of the balance it wasnt a cpp protection plan in place" I have also spoken to tsb and I was told it was a "protection against loss" ie if I lost the card. I have resubmitted the claim to lloyds ppi department today and they are sending me a form to fill in. I have spoke to 11 different people and given 11 different telelphone numbers and no one can give me a straight answer as to what I was paying for!!!
