New Job - Insurance Renewal Problem

I renewed my building and contents insurance last week. Today I called them to tell them about a new job I have just been offered. As it involves collecting money and probably having money in the house overnight they have said they won't cover me now.

Will I be able to get insurance from other sources or can my wife get insurance as the main policyholder. I have already received a few quotes from other compoanies today and in the quote procedure I wasn't asked for my occupation, presumably they will ask this at some point therefore affecting the premium or even whether they will insure me or not.

Perhaps I was too honest and could call my job customer service or similar?

If you are going to be keeping money on the premises then I think you will be limited in the cover you can get.
And I don't think you were being too honest.
Presumably having cash in the house makes you a bigger risk?
